How I Became Nickel NOT Nickle
Here's the story
Nickel quickly became a nickname my new college friends called me. And I loved it so much that I made it my Instagram handle: @nickelgallo. A common thing I noticed when
people tried to search for my account is they'd type 'Nickle'.
Seeing it spelled this way made me second guess myself. Is that how you spell it?! L-E not E-L?! Am I dumb for not knowing how to spell the 28th atomic element on the periodic table?! I spelled it correctly! I knew I was right.
But if people were constantly spelling nickle and not nickel, then maybe I should change it to what they're comfortable with! WRONG.
This has taught me that people will never learn if we don't teach them. I can't change the way this word is spelled. I can't change the truth. Just like I can't change the way I am or my truth. I've learned that people will learn
to spell 'Nickel' correctly. Just like how people will learn to accept you.
People will learn to love me as Nickel not Nickle.
Life is about laughter. Life is about learning. Life is about love.
To reach my daily, monthly, yearly and life-long goals, I will live my life as my authetic self. I will take my perfect imperfections and build my life to laugh often, learn more and love unconditionally.
